Head Chef and owner Catherine (Cathy) Stacey grew up in the Morgan Park neighborhood.  Chef Cathy didn’t just learn to cook from attending a culinary school.  She received her first training in the Italian kitchen of her mother (our namesake Ellie) and grandmother Maria. These women believed in the tradition of food being a part of the daily experience to be shared and enjoyed with family and friends.

Growing up with eight siblings, Chef Cathy had plenty of experience in the kitchen, but went on to receive formal culinary training in classic French cooking.  She did an extended stay in Italy working at different Trattoria’s throughout the country.  Chef Cathy’s experience in Old World style has inspired her to create a menu line of foods with a traditional foundation and New World freshness-to be enjoyed by our neighborhood family and friends.

 


 

Gluten-Free
Just 10 years ago, barely anyone knew what the word gluten meant.  Today, we understand why gluten may need to be avoided. Ellie’s is pleased to offer a wide variety of Gluten-Free menu items.  All of Ellie’s Salad Dressings, Cole Slaw, and Fresh Fruit are Gluten-Free.  Our Veggie Chips and some of our other chip selections are Gluten Free.  All of Ellie’s Meats & Cheeses are Gluten-Free, including the Chicken and Tuna Salad.  Ellie’s offers Gluten-Free bread and bakery choices.

We provide the glasses, the atmosphere and of course, the delicious food.
